The Face of Clemency

Tuesday, March 6, 2018 - 12:00pm

Judy Henderson, a 68-year-old grandmother who spent 35 years in prison for a murder committed by her boyfriend, was granted clemency by Governor Greitens in December.

The Legal Clinics teamed with private lawyers to work for Judy's release for many years. During her time in prison, she obtained her GED and more than 100 hours of college credit. She received certifications or completed training as a paralegal, fitness instructor, hairdresser and dog trainer. She also became a leader in programs that connect inmates to their families and that give back to the community.

Judy will talk with students about her life, her time in prison, and the challenges of moving into a world of cell phones, computers and social media after decades of incarceration and disconnection from many aspects of society.

Lunch will be provided.
