Numerous articles over the years have cited Saint Louis University School of Law as a leader in Health Law. This national stature makes The Center for Health Law Studies an obvious choice for law school graduates wishing to pursue the advanced degree of LL.M. in Health Law. The LL.M. program affords students not only the edge of having an advanced degree in their legal specialty, but also the opportunity to study and perform research under the guidance of our nationally recognized Health Law faculty.

Masters candidates pursue a course of study tailored to their own interests and goals by choosing from a wide spectrum of courses, externships and directed research. One of the many strengths of the LL.M. program at Saint Louis University is the student access to enrichment resources in business, economics, health administration and public health.

The LL.M. program is designed to serve two types of lawyers-those who do not have extensive experience in the practice of health law and those who are currently practicing and wish to increase their exposure to new developments in Health Law and other disciplines.

The program capitalizes on the exceptional foundation of the School of Law's Center for Health Law Studies by placing strong emphasis on research under the close supervision of experienced faculty. Students are encouraged to chart out a course of study that enables them to complete scholarly writing, attend seminars and participate in directed research projects. A vast number of students have their LL.M. work published in law reviews and professional journals.

Recent graduates have obtained jobs at the nation's leading law firms specializing in health law; large health care systems; federal and state agencies such as the Department of Health and Human Services; academic medical centers and provider trade associations.

This highly selective program traditionally admits five or fewer candidates each year. This allows for individual attention and close faculty supervision for each student.

Candidates must:

• Complete twenty-four (24) credit hours including a master's thesis of publishable quality.
• Students may take up to six (6) credit hours of directed research and six (6) credit hours outside the law school in approved, relevant disciplines.
• Students may choose to participate in the program on a full-time basis over the course of one year, or on a part-time basis over the course of two years.
