Wefel Center for Employment Law Information Session

The Wefel Center is excited to kick off its 30th year with an introductory session and a program on legal careers in human resources leadership.
The session will begin with a discussion of the concentration in labor and employment law, an overview of upcoming events, and news about student opportunities. A presentation by Laura Villa, chief employment counsel for Vectra Co., will follow. Villa will talk about the field of human resources and the options for in-house and executive positions for law grads.
Lunch will be provided, but please bring your own drink.

About the Speaker
Laura Villa is an experienced human resources executive and labor and employment attorney. She is currently chief employment counsel for Vectra Co., a holding company for industrial and military grade batteries with manufacturing sites in the U.S., Canada, Germany, France, Slovakia, Finland, China, and Malaysia. From 2007-15, she served as senior vice president of Aegion Corporation, a $1.5 billion global and diversified infrastructure company with 7,000+ employees. Prior to that, she was the director of human resources and general counsel at bioMérieux Inc., and an attorney at Armstrong Teasdale, LLP. Ms. Villa is a graduate of Saint Louis University and Notre Dame Law School. In 2014 she was chosen by the St. Louis Business Journal as Most Influential Business Woman. She serves as a board member for Cor Jesu Academy, Ready Readers, and St Louis Art Museum Corporate Partners.
