I was paralyzed while serving in the Marine Corps in 2008 and learned how to walk again after 3 months of physical therapy in the hospital.

Why did you want to go to law school?
To further my knowledge and to help active duty military members and veterans get access to all the benefits they deserve.
What do you want to do after you graduate?
I would like to be involved in Estate Planning.
What advice would you give first-year students?
Get with a good, productive study group to help get the main points out of each class for the exams.
What makes a successful student?
One who time manages very well.
What are you learning about the law that you didn’t anticipate?
There are a lot of issues with Medicaid and health care that still need to be resolved.
What’s your best experience at the School of Law?
Thinking I failed an exam, only to realize it was my best grade to date.
How do you balancing life and law school?
I am here from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day but Sunday, so I can spend time in the evenings with my family.

Professor Kerry Ryan
What impresses you most about School of Law professors?
The brilliance they all have and their complete understanding of the law.

Trust and Estates
What’s most challenging about adjusting to law school?
I went from a science and math background with little reading to law school, which is nothing but reading.
What professional experiences/summer positions or clinical experience have you had?
I work for Legal Services of Eastern Missouri in the Legal Advocacy for Adults with Mental Illness department.
Why did you choose SLU LAW?
I visited the new building and the city and just fell in love with the area.
What is your favorite thing about SLU LAW?
The downtown location by all the court houses.
What would you tell a potential SLU LAW student?
Visit your top three law schools you have been admitted to and make your decision based on the area, as well as the opportunities for prospective jobs out of school.
What is your favorite part of St. Louis?
I love the big city living with all the sports and fun, free activities to do with my kids.
What would you tell a prospective student about living in St. Louis?
Live downtown while you are here at school so you can enjoy the city living.
What does St. Louis offer that you didn’t expect?
A lot of free fun activities to keep my family entertained.
Where’s your favorite place to eat?
Sauce on the Side.
What is your favorite downtown discovery?
City Garden Splash park. My oldest son loves to run around there during the hot summer months.
