What are you passionate about? I am very passionate about mental health awareness. After losing my best friend in 2014, I founded a non-profit organization – Project Wake Up – with the aim of eradicating the stigma surrounding mental illness on college campuses.
What advice would you give first-year students?
I recommend treating law school like it’s your full time job. Put in the work and it will be worth it. It is very tough, but by being accepted into the school, you have already proven that you are capable of meeting the challenge.
How do you balance life and law school?
By planning and working ahead during the week, I’m able to really enjoy weekends. Figure out a balance and don’t let your social life disappear.
Who is your favorite professor?
Professor Chad “Flying-Fingers” Flanders: Professor Flanders brings humor and energy to his criminal law class; both very appreciated in an early morning class.
What is your favorite class?
There’s nothing better than two hours of Torts.
What is most challenging about adjusting to law school?
The amount of reading is daunting at first, but as time goes on, you’ll start to get comfortable with the workload. You will start to learn how to study effectively, and you will be able to pick out what is important from the readings.
What would you tell a potential SLU LAW student?
SLU LAW is an excellent school. The building is state of the art, the professors are passionate, and the environment is more friendly than competitive. It has a great atmosphere. You will not regret choosing to study here at SLU. In the short time that I have been a SLU LAW student, I already feel like I am meant to be here.
What would you tell a prospective student about living in St. Louis?
Give in and become a Cardinals fan; if you’re a Cubs fan, keep it to yourself.
Where is your favorite place to eat?
Bailey’s Range has phenomenal burgers and it is within walking distance of the law school.
