Universal Wireless Security Settings

Below are the security settings necessary for connecting to the “SLUNet” wireless network. To configure these settings, open your computer’s wireless utility. Since there are many different wireless configuration utilities available, the order in which you see these settings may vary on your computer, and you may not see some of these settings at all. Simply go through your computer’s wireless configuration and fill out the information based on this list.

• Profile/Network Name/SSID: “slunet”
• Connection mode: “Network (Infrastructure)” (NOT Ad-hoc)
• Security mode: “Enterprise”
• Network Authentication: “Open”
• Data Encryption: “WEP” (key provided automatically)
Enable 802.1x
• Authentication/EAP Type: “Protected EAP (PEAP)”
• Authentication Protocol/Inner Authentication method: “Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2)”
• Do NOT use Windows authentication information
• User credentials:

o User name: Your SLU user name without @slu.edu
o Password: Same as password for Myslu, Banner, etc.
o Domain: Leave this field blank

Additional Advanced Settings, you may not see these:
• Do NOT authenticate as computer when information is available
• Do NOT authenticate as guest
• Do NOT Validate server certificate
• Do NOT enable fast reconnect
• Do NOT enable quarantine checks
• Do NOT disconnect if server does not present crytobinding TLV
