- Self-Scheduled Exams
- Are ready to go and will be a reality for this fall’s exam period!
- 1L exams will NOT be self-scheduled, and a few professors have two-part exams that will not be conducive to self-scheduling; however, the majority of the faculty have signed on to the new process
- There is a block schedule of times available and students do not have to report which blocks they will choose
- For example, if you want to take your exam on a certain day, you just show up that day. If that day comes and you feel unprepared, you can choose not to come as well.
- The only caveat is that students cannot create a conflict for themselves. All students are responsible for making sure that they complete all their exams by the last day of the exam period.
- Felisha McCaster, Registrar, noted that all this information is available on the web and the plasma screen
- Students may also stop by the Office of Student Services with questions
- She encouraged all students to review the Exam Rules and Procedures
- Printing Issue Discussion
- Pavan Parikh: Why not go back to the quota from our first year?
- Mark Milton: Is there a way to make it free to print small assignments all the way through the semester?
- Laura Keck: Is there a way to let there be a set amount on our cards for printing?
- Luke Maher: We are told this is a central IT issue that cannot be overcome.
- Erin Doyle: Can SLU IT talk to them?
- What if it was up to the student to decide how to use a specified amount of money that was put on the card?
- Steve: Where does the $$ go from student copies?
- Luke: Great question. We can look into this.
- Shawn: What about blocks of free printing at a time?
- Laura: Voiced opposition to this from an environmental perspective.
- Student: What if we charge a fee like $30 at the beginning and then everyone can print at will for the entire year?
- Chris Lee: Voiced opposition to this because he has his own printer and that would essentially be $30 down the drain for him.
- Student: Why not restrict free printing to certain times during the school year?
- Luke: This is a real possibility right now and has been proposed by the administration as a potential solution.
- Student: Could students pay a nominal fee to buy printing here at school?
- AJ: Why not just reduce the cost per page?
- When current 3Ls started as 1Ls, it was only 6 cents a page.
- Karla Hutton: Public libraries let you print 200 pages per month for free
- Donna Tran: Is there an option for double-sided printing?
- Laura: Yes, but it charges you for 2 pages.
- Meg: For the cost of one page, you can photocopy two pages onto one “big” piece of paper.
- Discussion was concluded.
- Pre-law Volunteer Opportunity
- Laura Keck told the SBA about an Intro to Law undergrad course that is looking for law student volunteers to help with it’s September 10th class at 9:00 am
- The students have an assignment that is similar to an IRAC problem
- Free coffee will be available to all law students who participate
- Anyone interested should come at 8:40 am and contact Laura with questions at lkeck1@slu.edu
- Naturalization Ceremony
- Honor Council Appointment
- Luke introduced Karen Skelton as the E-board’s proposed appointee to fill the current vacancy
- A majority of the SBA must vote in favor of the appointment for it to pass.
- Debate ensued as to the appointment and no vote was taken.
- Laura Keck made a motion to table the discussion, which was seconded.
- 2L SBA Rep Vacancy
- Luke introduced Chris Freiburger as the nominee
- A vote was taken and Chris was elected by a total majority of SBA reps present.
