• Prominent members of Phi Delta Phi include Benjamin Cardozo, William H. Rehnquist, Thurgood Marshall, Sandra Day O'Connor, Anthony M. Kennedy, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Karl Llewellyn, and John Paul Stevens.
• Every year Phi Delta Phi awards twelve $3,000 Balfour Scholarship Awards to law students thanks to a grant from the Lloyd G. Balfour Foundation. In addition there is a Balfour Minority Scholarship and an International Exchange Award.
• Murphy Inn at SLU was named in honor of Frank Murphy, US Supreme Court justice from 1940-49.
• The majority of Phi Delta Phi chapters are honors organizations, requiring a minimum GPA or other achievement in order to join. Currently Murphy Inn does not have this requirement. See How to Join.
