Congratulations to Moot Court Winners!

Please join in congratulating Jittaun Dill and Cora Drew for winning
second runner-up in the Frederick Douglass Moot Court competition, and in
wishing them well as they compete in the National Competition in Detroit
at the end of March.

Congratulations also to Raumesh Akbari, Ryan Turnage and Justin Mason,
who advanced to the semifinal round on the Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial
competition, and to Raven Akram and Latieke Lyles, who tied for the Best
Advocate Award at the Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial competition.

Deline Ethics Program

The Deline Ethics Program will be held Wednesday, Jan. 30. This program is required for all first year students, and it will explore the ethical and professionalism concerns integral to law practice through a general panel session and small discussion groups.

Billiken Blue-Out

As a sponsor of "Blue Out" week, the School of Law is encouraging law students to attend the SLU vs. Xavier men's basketball game on Thursday,
Feb. 7. "Blue Out" is a new tradition of spirit week to improve the community's involvement with the University and Billiken athletics. The game will be televised on ESPN at 8 p.m., and we want all of Scottrade Center to be a sea of Billiken blue!

On Tuesday, Feb. 5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and again on Wednesday, Feb. 6 from noon to 2 p.m. in the Atrium, students can pick up one free ticket per student ID. (Sorry, no repeat customers.) Additional tickets can be purchased for $10 each. Every law student who picks up a ticket will receive a free "Blue Out" T-shirt to wear at the game.

WLSA Networking Event

The Women Law Students' Association will host a Networking Event on
Jan. 30. Local attorneys will be present to share their advice on the legal profession and for great conversation. Wine and light appetizers will be served as well. Business casual dress is recommended. If anyone has questions, contact liz.grana@gmail.com.

Federalist Society Speaker

The SLU Federalist Society will host speaker Christina Hoff Sommers on Wednesday, Jan. 30. The topic of her speech will be "What Is Wrong (and Right) with Feminism." Food will be provided.

Weekly Mass

A weekly mass takes place on Tuesdays. All are welcome to attend this half-hour prayer opportunity. In addition, Campus Ministry sponsors a variety of communal prayer experiences throughout the academic year, including periodic interfaith prayer services.

Don’t forget about the Prayer Room next to the Campus Ministry office. It is open and available as a quiet place of reflection (and refuge!) whenever the School of Law building is open.
