School of Law to Host ABA Antitrust Healthcare Conference
The Center for Health Law Studies, along with the American Bar Association Section of Antitrust Law and the Saint Louis Area Health Lawyers Association-ABA Antitrust Section, will be hosting the conference, Physician Ownership of Hospitals and Other Health Facilities: Antitrust and Policy Issues Center for Health Law Studies. James C. Millstone Memorial Lecture
Philip Meyer Knight, chair in journalism at the University of North Carolina, will be the guest lecturer, and his topic will be "Letters from William Woo: Are Traditional Values Relevant in Today's Chaotic Newscape?". Panelists include Pamela Maples, managing editor of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and William H. Freivogel, director, School of Journalism, Southern Illinois University. Left Bank Books will be selling William Woo's book, "Letters from the Editor: Lessons on Journalism and Life," before and after the event. The James C. Millstone lecture is presented by Saint Louis University School of Law. The Fall 2007 lecture is co-sponsored by Saint Louis Platform. James C. Millstone, a long-time reporter for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, covered the civil rights movement, and as an editor conceived and supervised reporting on subjects such as police brutality and the bicentennial of the United States Constitution. The Millstone lecture series was designed to continue his passion for civil rights and freedom of speech.

Update on ITS Efforts to Improve Service
ITS will conduct testing of the School of Law wireless network on Monday, Oct. 22 and Tuesday, Oct. 23. Testing will require wireless access to be completely disabled on the ground floor and first floor of Morrissey Hall on those days.
ITS also needs to know what types of laptops students are currently using in order to improve wireless service and better support students' needs.

Helping Our Own Book Sale
It's book sale season on campus! The Helping Our Own Book Sale will take place on Oct. 17 and 24. A variety of new hardcover books, including children’s, cooking and general interest titles, will sell for 30 to 70 percent off the suggested retail price. A portion of the sale’s proceeds will benefit SLU’s Helping Our Own program, which assists employees facing financial emergencies. Call 977-2428 for more information.

Animal Law Group Donation Box for Stray Rescue
The SLU Animal Law Group has placed a donation box located in the library to help the Stray Rescue Animal Group of St. Louis (www.strayrescue.org). Please let your friends and family know that the following items would be greatly appreciated: Purina O.N.E. Lamb & Rice dry food, Proplan canned and dry puppy food, dry and canned dog/puppy and cat/kitten food, financial donations, dog harnesses in medium and large sizes, cat and dog collars and leashes, cat and dog toys and treats, cat and dog beds, peanut butter, paper towels, toilet paper, bleach, dye-free laundry detergent, dryer sheets, cleaning supplies and surgical gloves, litter, litter boxes and food and water bowls. The Stray Rescue Animal Group also needs volunteers.

Veteran's Law Student Organization Speaker
The VLSO will host speaker Jeffrey J. Bunten on Wednesday, Oct. 24. Bunten has substantial experience in representing clients before the Social Security Administration, including Social Security Disability, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Children's SSI. His practice also involves representation of veterans claiming service-connected disability and pension before the Department of Veteran's Affairs. He has been admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for Veteran's Claims and the United States District Court of Eastern Missouri. He is a member of the National Organization of Veteran's Advocates, the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, the American Bar Association and the National Organization of Social Security Claimant's Representatives. Lunch will be served.
