Dean's Forum

Food for Thought Speaker Series

All students are invited to participate in an informal conversation with a practicing attorney who is also a graduate of SLU law school. Eric S. Christensen, associate, Lashly & Baer, will share some thoughts about his experience as a lawyer and his particular practice areas. Mr. Christensen specializes in representing employers and their insurers in workers' compensation defense matters in the St. Louis area and throughout the state of Missouri. He has experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of litigation, and currently helps represent a large group of Missouri hospitals in their lawsuit against the tobacco industry. Questions from students are welcomed and encouraged.

Phi Delta Phi Roundtable Discussion

Join Judge Charles E. Rendlen III, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Eastern District of Missouri, for the roundtable discussion, "What Judges Want to Hear When You're in the Courtroom."

The Honorable Judge Charles E. Rendlen III was in private practice as
a litigator in Missouri for 28 years, serving as the firm's managing
partner for 13 years. During this time Judge Rendlen tried hundreds of
cases, including 33 jury trials, and appeared before almost every
court and jurisdiction, from small claims to federal appellate court
to the U.S. Supreme Court. In June 2003, he was appointed by the
Attorney General to serve as US Trustee for Region 13, which comprises
Arkansas, Missouri and Nebraska. On May 23, 2006, Judge Rendlen was
appointed to a 14-year term on the United States Bankruptcy
Court for the Eastern District of Missouri.

The Veteran's Law Student Organization will host Gloria Colon, '05, an associate from Simmons Cooper. She will be presenting her past year's experience providing legal services for veterans as part of the City of St Louis' Veteran's Service Project. Lunch will be served.

Weekly Mass

A weekly mass takes place on Wednesdays. All are welcome to attend this half-hour prayer opportunity. In addition, Campus Ministry sponsors a variety of communal prayer experiences throughout the academic year, including periodic interfaith prayer services.

Prayer Room

Don’t forget about the Prayer Room next to the Campus Ministry office. It is open and available as a quiet place of reflection (and refuge!) whenever the School of Law building is open.
