2002-2003 Practitioner in Residence Beth Schermer
In continuation of the Center’s Tradition of pioneering new programs, the Center holds an annual Practitioner in Residence Program. Center hosts a visiting health law attorney for one to three months at the School of Law. The attorney has the opportunity to reflect on the practice of law and refresh his or her perspective while offering students and faculty insight into the realities of the practice of health law.
The 2002-2003 Practitioner in Residence was Beth Schermer of Coppersmith Gordon Schermer Owens & Nelson in Phoenix, Arizona. Ms. Schermer has worked in health care law for more than twenty years. She graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Yale College in 1977, and received her J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1980. Ms. Schermer has served as President of the American Health Lawyers Association, the largest national association devoted to health care attorney education. She provides transactional and regulatory assistance to health care clients in a range of areas including Stark and fraud and abuse, tax exemption, certification, licensure, and compliance issues.
