What area of health law most interests you and why? Health policy, access to care and infectious disease. After completing my undergraduate degree, I worked for a nonprofit that worked with poor AIDS patients, and I saw firsthand the struggle that population coped with daily.
What do you hope to achieve through the study and/or practice of health law? I have seen the health system from a consumer perspective and as a community health worker. I want to develop a better understanding of how policies are made and the decisions that are behind the policies and hopefully influence this process.
What has been your favorite health law class and why? The wide array of opportunities and the support you can get. Between the Center for Health Law Studies, the Journal of Health Law & Policy and the Health Law Association, there is a wide variety of ways to get involved. The faculty really has to be what makes the program, though.
What is your favorite thing about SLU’s health law program? The people involved in the program.
