What area of health law most interests you and why? I have not yet really begun to get into many areas of health law, but currently I think health care legislative counseling and advocacy interests me most because I believe that those who know the most about health care and research practices should have some influence on legislation and regulation.
What do you hope to achieve through the study and/or practice of health law? I hope that the study of health law will help me understand how the health care industry operates so that when I am practicing I can contribute to finding solutions to the access and quality problems our health care system currently suffers from.
What has been your favorite health law class and why? My favorite law school class so far has been Constitutional Law with Professor Bloom because until that class I never understood just how intricate our Constitution was, and that class did an amazing job of explaining the legal and political forces behind so many of the major events in U.S. history.
What is your favorite thing about SLU’s health law program? Compared to other schools, I love that SLU offers such a great variety of health law classes. Also, I appreciate how accommodating the program is to those of us who are also interested in getting our Master of Public Health degrees.
Who was the best speaker you’ve heard speak, what did they speak on, and why were they the best? The best speaker I heard was Bill Sarraille because he explained the tension between regulatory enforcement and guidance in such a way that it was interesting and comprehensible to even a beginning health law student.
