What area of health law most interests you and why? The laws regulating health information technologies most interest me because they are where my interests in emerging technologies and regulatory law meet. After working at a hospital this past summer, I have also become quite interested in Stark law as it plays out in the relationships between hospitals and physicians.

What do you hope to achieve through the study and/or practice of health law? Ultimately my goal is to work as in-house counsel in a hospital system. I think that I am most interested in the practice of health law because it requires a truly interdisciplinary understanding of law and the health marketplace.

What has been your favorite health law class and why? My favorite health law class has been Professor Terry’s seminar, Health, Law and Technology. I enjoyed the diverse experience of learning from not only the professor’s perspective on law and technology but also from the expertise developed by each of the students in the subject of their choice.

What is your favorite thing about SLU’s health law program? My favorite thing about the health law program is the passion that all of the faculty show for the field of health law. It isn’t just a subject they teach; it is a topic they care about.

Who was the best speaker you’ve heard speak, what did they speak on, and why were they the best? The best speaker I have heard spoke on the implications of the Abigail Alliance case on access to drugs in clinical trials. I think I liked this topic the best because it was one of the more controversial subjects and because I had the opportunity to join a small group discussion with the speaker following the larger presentation.
