Minimum/Maximum Course Loads
Generally, 16 hours for full-time students and 11 hours for part-time students is the maximum course load in any regular semester. Seven (7) hours is the maximum load during any summer session and is considered to be the full-time study of law. Students with questions on summer study should visit with the Interim Associate Dean of Students or the Assistant Director of the Center for International and Comparative Law.
A student who registers for less than twelve (12) hours in the fall or spring semester will be considered classified as a student in the part-time program of study, and may not register for fewer than eight (8) hours without the written permission of the Interim Associate Dean of Students. Permission to take a reduced schedule will be granted only under extraordinary circumstances.
Students enrolled in the full-time program of study may enroll in no more than 17 hours in any regular semester. Students with a cumulative grade point average of less than 3.30 at the time of registration, and who have completed, or will complete by the end of that semester all of their first year requirements, must secure written permission from the Interim Associate Dean of Students prior to registering for 17 hours.
