'Other People's Footage: Copyright & Fair Use' Film Screening and Panel Discussion
Tuesday, March 28, 2017 - 5:30pm
Join filmmakers Diane Carson and Robert Johnson for a screening of their critically acclaimed documentary "Other People's Footage: Copyright and Fair Use." The documentary explores questions crucial to determining fair use exemptions and presents illustrative examples from nonfiction, fiction, and experimental films that use pre-existing footage, music and sound from other individuals' creations — without permission or paying fees.
Following the screening, the filmmakers will be joined by Professors Cohn and Liebesman for a panel discussion and Q&A on fair use and other copyright issues in film. The event is sponsored by SIPLA and the SLU LAW Library. Movie snacks and beverages will be provided.
