Commercial Law General Advice Commercial law is the study of the legal principles governing business and consumer transactions. Nearly every attorney regularly encounters commercial law problems in his or her practice; therefore, students should take advantage of the opportunity to develop an understanding of this area. Most problems in commercial law are governed by the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC), a uniform body of statutory law enacted in all 50 states. The UCC is an extensive grouping of statutes designed to work effectively with contemporary commercial practices. The need for attorneys to understand those practices, and the laws governing them, cannot be overstated. Specific Courses/Frequency of Offering
Course Sequence Students should take Commercial Transactions in their second year followed by Secured Transactions and Bankruptcy in their third year. Advanced Secured Transactions is offered in the Spring. |
