Conferences 20th Annual Health Law Symposium: Disability, Reproduction and Parenting The desire to form a family has long been surrounded by stigma for people with disabilities — whether parents, prospective parents or children — who continue to face barriers to full reproductive autonomy, parenting and family life. Against this backdrop, medical advances such as assisted reproductive technologies and prenatal diagnostic techniques raise a host of new and renewed legal, medical and ethical questions. These advances represent the potential for increased access to informed reproductive choice, but also for the increased stigmatization of individuals with actual or perceived disabilities. This Symposium will examine the impact of these technologies and techniques on parents, prospective parents and children with disabilities. The Changing Tide of Trade: The Social, Political and Environmental Implications of Regional Trade Agreements The Public Law Review will hold its annual symposium on Friday, Apr. 4. The title of the symposium is "The Changing Tide of Trade: The Social, Political and Environmental Implications of Regional Trade Agreements." It will be held in conjunction with ATLAS Week, a campus-wide, week-long program designed to highlight the international dimension of Saint Louis University and to celebrate its role in international education and service. More information to follow. Student Legal Writers' Association Symposium The Student Legal Writers' Association (SLWA) is hosting its first all-student symposium on April 18, 2008. SLWA seeks to promote excellence in student legal scholarship, research, and writing by providing a platform for students to present and exchange ideas in a formal setting. The symposium is open to second and third year law students from Saint Louis University, Washington University, University of Missouri - Columbia, University of Missouri - Kansas City and Southern Illinois University - Carbondale.
