Study Abroad Programs

Through the law school's Center for International and Comparative Law, Saint Louis University law students have many study abroad opportunities. The School offers a Summer Law Program in Berlin and one in Madrid. These programs offer up to six (6) credit hours of international and comparative law courses taught by German or Spanish legal scholars and SLU Law professors. All courses are taught in English and include site visits to various legal institutions in the host country. A visit to the International Court of Justice in The Hague is available as an add-on to the Madrid Summer Law Program.

A limited number of students may attend University College Cork, Ireland, Université d'Orléans, France, or Université Paris, Dauphine, France, during their final fall semester. Students in these programs take courses in the native country's language. The two French programs' courses also count as credit toward a French law degree. Additionally, law students fluent in German who wish to engage in research in German law may apply to receive a fellowship from the Ruhr-Universität in Bochum, Germany.

Through a partnership with Bridges across Borders, an international, nonprofit, nongovernmental organization, the law school's clinical program offers a small number of non-credit pro bono summer internships in Southeast Asia.
