Study in Paris, France Saint Louis University School of Law has a cooperative agreement with the Université Paris Dauphine, which makes it possible for students to study for one semester in France. Candidates who successfully complete courses at Université Paris Dauphine receive credit toward their J.D. degrees from the School of Law. Coordinated through the Center for International and Comparative Law, this program is open only to students and recent graduates of Saint Louis University School of Law. The Université Paris Dauphine specializes exclusively in the areas of business and commercial law. Students must fluently speak, read and write French, since classes are taught entirely in French. Students must take an official French state language examination or prove to a French speaking SLU law faculty member that he or she is fluent. Recent graduates of the School of Law may also have the opportunity to study at Paris-Dauphine. After receiving the J.D. degree, graduates will be entitled to apply again during the following year to complete the Master’s degree, which makes one eligible to sit for the French bar examination upon completion of an apprenticeship in France. Students bear incidental expenses, including airfare and ground transportation, lodging, meals, medical insurance, and so forth. Active Saint Louis University School of Law students will pay no tuition or fees at Paris-Dauphine, but will pay tuition and fees at SLU where they will be simultaneously enrolled and credited for their studies at Paris-Dauphine. Students must provide proof of medical insurance coverage to the Université Paris Dauphine. |
