International and Comparative Law for J.D. Students

Preserving peace, protecting human rights and participating in a global
marketplace require knowledge of international and comparative law. Lawmakers and courts at the federal, state, and local levels increasingly deal with international and comparative law issues. The Certificate Program ensures that graduates from SLU Law will be sensitive to the international, social and economic challenges that the future will present.

Students in the Certificate Program generally complete a minimum of 10 hours of credit from the international and comparative law curriculum to include five components. For specific details, refer to the Certificate Program page.

The Center also provides several ways for students to enrich their education. The School of Law offers full and part-time students opportunities to study abroad in Spain, Germany, Ireland and France. The Philip C. Jessup International Moot Court team augments the rich curriculum with courtroom training. The student-centered International Law Students' Association welcomes all members of the student body, and sponsors a variety of social and academic activities. Also, visiting professors from throughout the world expose students to a diverse mixture of foreign laws and cultures.
