Career Services

The Career Services Office provides career counseling to both current students and alumni. Three full-time professionals staff the office - two licensed attorneys with employment and counseling experience, and a nationally certified career counselor. Together, they help students and alumni examine their individual interests and skills in order to help them find the best career fit. 

Individual assistance is provided with resume writing, interviewing techniques, job searches and referrals to practicing attorneys. The Office offers programs throughout the school year to explore, with the students, both traditional and non-traditional career paths. 

Student and Alumni Job Placement

Additionally, each fall and spring, the Career Services Office invites numerous employers from across the country to interview students for summer and full-time positions. The Office also maintains an on-line listing of jobs for both students and alumni. Students can also view current job postings in the Career Services Office. The Career Services library is home to a variety of legal directories, job search information, government position listings, handouts, articles of interest, employer resumes and other useful career planning information.

Resume writing

Students get help with structuring the legal resume, content, editing and direction on where to send resumes. We help with the drafting and refining of resumes to prepare them to be sent to prospective employers.

 Interviewing techniques

We inform about interview subjects such as FAQs, demeanor, dress, answering the tough questions and presentation. Students engage in practices with Career Services staff to simulate a real interview.

Job searches

The Office helps students use the resources for job openings, such as Web sites, employment guides and media postings. Twice a year, the Office hosts several weeks of on-campus interviews for second-year summer internships and permanent employment after graduation. Interviews are conducted with representatives from firms, corporations, government entities and public employers.

Resources

The Career Services Office provides a variety of legal directories, job search information, government position listings, handouts, articles of interest, employer resumes, and other useful career planning information. Students and alumni can use these resources to find firms across the country, employment postings in other cities, open positions with federal and state and local governments, and media exposure of topics related to legal careers. These resources serve to help students perform complete research before they set out looking for a job.
