New Face in Career Services
Some of you may have noticed a new face when you enter the Career Services Office. Kelley McCottrell is no longer with the law school, having accepted a position with Schnuck Markets, Inc. in their corporate headquarters. It is a great opportunity for Kelley and, though we miss her, we wish her well in her new position. We are pleased and excited, however, to welcome Colleen Murphy as our new Career Services Assistant. Colleen has been with the University for almost 10 years. For the last eight years she was working in our Alumni and Development Office and is thus quite familiar with the law school. Please stop by to say hello to Colleen.

Evening Students

Missouri Bar Program on Character and Fitness and Bar Requirements for First Year Students
Law students in Missouri are strongly encouraged to file an Application for Character and Fitness Report as soon as they begin law school. One of the chief reasons to file early is that the earlier a student files, the lower the application fee. In fact, the first deadline for early registration for first year law students is October 1. On Wednesday August 29 at Noon in Room 303, Kellie Early, Director of Admissions for the Missouri Bar, will speak to all first year students. Please note that on this same date, the program will be repeated for evening students beginning at 5:15 p.m. in Room 303. Ms. Early will discuss the Application for Character and Fitness and the process for an early determination of Character and Fitness, as well as the Application to take the Missouri Bar and the numerous requirements that go along with it. We realize that most first year students may be unfamiliar with the various bar requirements or what subjects will be tested on the bar examination. Ms. Early will address all of these issues. It is for this reason that we require all first year students to attend this program - especially if you intend to take the Missouri Bar. Even if you are not sure which bar you intend to take, it is important to attend this program since the issues and application processes are very similar from state to state.
