Seth Frederiksen '04

Hometown: University City, MO

Seth Frederiksen

Place of Employment: Mergers and Acquisitions Associate, King & Spalding, LLP; Washington, D.C.

Why Saint Louis University School of Law? I chose the School because I believed the quality of the professors and bar passage rates were high, while the cost of living and studying in St. Louis is relatively low compared to other cities. With Cardinals baseball and places like the University City loop, you really can't ask for much else while in law school.

Your Best Experience at the School: My best experiences at Saint Louis University centered around getting to meet and study with some amazingly dynamic and caring people. The environment that is created by such people removes any pretentious or snobby stereotypes that are often attributed to students working towards professional degrees.

What (or Who) at the School Had the Most Profound Effect on You? Probably the conversations at the lunch table each day between classes. Though we have traveled to different places to begin our practices, the personal connections I made with my fellow students have been the most profound.

Extracurricular Interests: Water polo

Current board memberships/volunteer activities/committees, etc.: American Youth Foundation

Final Thought: In the past, the School has had a reputation for only being able to place their graduates at St. Louis firms. My experience, which has taken me to Washington, D.C., has shown me that this is not correct and that the hard work of the Career Services Office and faculty at the School of Law has allowed graduates to interview and practice law all over the country at top law firms.
