Endowment Opportunities Many donors choose to establish or contribute to an endowed fund, creating a lasting legacy. The income from the endowment provides ongoing support to the donor's chosen priority. Endowment gifts provide security over the long term by expanding the school’s permanent financial base and creating a predictable source of future income for such things as endowed faculty positions, student scholarships or fellowships, or even entire academic programs. Endowments may be named for the donor or someone a donor wishes to honor or memorialize. Endowed gifts can be unrestricted or directed. Unrestricted gifts allow the school to allocate funds wherever the need is greatest and to take advantage of unique opportunities as they arise. Your unrestricted contribution to the Annual Fund may be used to support costs associated with financial aid, innovations in teaching, facilities and much more. Directed gifts allow you to designate your gift to a specific program, scholarship or other priority area at the school. When you make a directed gift to SLU law, you enjoy the satisfaction of knowing you are supporting a program that is personally meaningful to you. Saint Louis University invests endowed funds and uses a portion of the income for the purpose the donor specifies, while the remainder is reinvested in the fund to keep pace with inflation.
