The Mission

The mission of Saint Louis University School of Law is to advance the understanding and the development of law and prepare students to achieve professional success and personal satisfaction through leadership and service to others. The School of Law is guided by the Jesuit tradition of academic excellence, freedom of inquiry and respect for individual differences.

Saint Louis University School of Law was founded in 1843 and is the oldest law school west of the Mississippi River. The School of Law has a rich tradition of service to the community and provides a well-rounded legal education that focuses on a student’s individual needs and interests.

The School of Law offers:

  • Certificates and concentrations available in eight areas of law
  • Three Centers of Excellence,  
    including the nation’s premier Health Law program
  • Dual-degree programs
  • Opportunities to study abroad
  • Part-time program for working adults
  • Hands-on experience through legal clinics
