St. Louis Safety Guide
911 |Convention Center | CID
Guides | Public
Transportation
Emergency -
911 for Police, Fire, Ambulance (call is free from pay phones.)
Please take the same precautions that you would
in any city. Try to travel with a group. When you go out at night, think
about how you will get back to your hotel. Take the phone numbers of taxi
cab companies with you as they are not always available to hail (see our
Transportation
Guide). Don't wear your convention tag when walking around the city.
America's Center Security Office -
Located on Level 1, between the Internet Cafe and the Bistro, across from the
Administrative Office. The first aid station is on Level 1 between rooms 113
and 115.
Look for Downtown CID Guide Teams -
The Downtown St. Louis Partnership presents the CID Guide Team. These distinctively
uniformed sidewalk greeters and guides travel on foot and bicycles to provide
information, hospitality and a warm, friendly environment to those who live,
work, shop, play and visit the downtown area. The street greeters are also
trained as "additional
eyes and ears" for
the downtown bicycle, beat and mounted patrol officers, as well as the
graffiti and clean teams.
In addition to greeting visitors, the CID Guides answer
questions, give directions, assist customers and report cleaning problems to
ComEx Net dispatcher. They also report suspicious activities to the ComEx Net
dispatcher and - if need be - to the police. They offer suggestions on dining
and shopping and assist in making downtown St. Louis a more fun and enjoyable
place to visit and work! They can serve as an escort for an employee of the
downtown area who might be working late and may need to get to their car.
Especially during events and conventions downtown, the
men and women dressed in gold and black uniforms have been charged with making
the stay and visit to downtown as pleasant an experience as you expect it to
be! Equipped with Dining and Visitor Guides & Maps, along with radios,
the CID Guides are trained to be at the beck and call of those in need.
