St. Louis is a wonderful town for dining out, with many ethnic restaurants. Join a local librarian and visit one of our fine dining establishments. Please use the sign-up form below.

Please Note:  If you haven't heard anything to the contrary, you are signed up for your restaurant.  Meet at the hospitality booth between 6:15 and 6:30.

The Choices:

1. Sen Thai Bistro
Please join Chris Tighe for dinner at Sen Thai Bistro. Sen Thai Bistro won the Sauce Magazine dining award in 2003, 2004 and 2005. If there's time, we can walk by the St. Louis Public Library and Christ Church Cathedral on our way back. They have several vegetarian options. Post review.

2. Lucas Park Grill
Join Sally Crowley at the Lucas Park Grill. Envision a steakhouse with an environment so inviting: decoratively designed and significantly placed with stone fireplaces, plasma TV's, eclectic lighting, a mezzanine, private dining area. A gorgeous full bar, gourmet market, five-star filets, locally raised lamb, sea bass and over 250 wines for the wine connoisseur, all inside an 8,000-square-foot building that is over a century old in the heart of Washington Avenue's Loft District. Post Review.

3. House of India (Closed)
Jim Voelker will take a group to House of India, winner of the 2004 and 2005 Sauce Magazine best Indian restaurant poll. A lengthy menu of biryanis, tikkas, curries, masalas and many vegetarian options will please fans of Indian food. Jim can take 4 people in his car. Others can drive or share a cab. RFT listing.

4. Cafe Eau (Closed)
Metrolink to the Central West End with Joe Katrosh for American gourmet dining in a casual atmosphere at Cafe Eau, located in the historic Chase Park Plaza Hotel. Don't forget to check out the ice bar. If there's time, people can walk around the West End after dinner.

5. Mirasol (Closed)
Think MIRASOL for NUEVO LATINO cuisine: fabulous dishes capturing the unique flavors of Cuba, Central and South America. They specialize in ceviches. Leann Genovese will lead a group to the University City Loop on Metrolink. RFT review, Post review, drinks review, take-out review.

6. Norton's Cafe (Closed)
Donna Fisher will take 4 people to Norton's in historic Soulard, the old French part of St. Louis. Norton's is known for award-winning American, Creole, and Cajun cuisine. Post review.

7. Grbic's Bosnian Restaurant (Closed)
St. Louis has a growing Bosnian population and Jim Milles will take 6 people to his old neighbor in a van to experience what has always been the ethnically diverse south city. In an old dairy, they serve schnitzel, pasta, goulash and other dishes from across the European continent. Grbic's was recently highlighted by the New York Times in their "36 Hours in St. Louis" article. Sauce Review, Post review.

8. Schlafly's Tap Room Brewpub
Launched in 1991, The Tap Room proudly holds the distinction of being the first brewpub in Missouri. Housed in a beautifully-restored historic building, The Tap Room enjoys a reputation as a casual, earthy place to drink, dine, or listen to great live music on the edge of Downtown. You can sample their seasonal beer and enjoy the hot whiskey bread pudding. It's owned by a local lawyer, too. Joanne Vogel from Saint Louis University Law School is coordinating rides and taxis. Post, RFT listing.

9. Yemanja Brasil
Join Sue Sirkus and Kris Albertus for a drive to Yemanja Brasil in south St. Louis. They can take a total of 6, unless people want to squish in the back seat! Warning! The World Cup final will be played this afternoon and the Brazil fans could be pretty crazy! Post review, RFT reviews.

10. John D. McGurk's Irish Pub
McGurk's has won Sauce Magazine's best Irish food poll the last 3 years and they feature live Irish music each night; what more can anyone want? Join Kimberly Curran Cole in this historic Soulard institution; you may even want to stay to hear the Irish Brigade play. RFT reviews.

11. St. Louis Fish Market (Closed)
Visit historic Laclede's Landing with Dorie Bertram at St. Louis Fish Market. In addition to enticing seafood, the Fish Market features beautiful cherry-stained wood tables, fun wallpaper festooned with mermaids and a huge bar that juts into the center of the room. You can stroll around the cobblestone streets and look at the river afterwards. RFT review.

12. Mangia Italiano
Visit Mangia Italiano in the South Grand neighborhood with Karla Morris-Holmes. Casual, even somewhat funky environment for Italian food, featuring multiple pastas made fresh daily and other light entrees. Karla can take 4 people in her car. RFT review, Post review 2002, 2004.

13. Gian-Tony's (Closed)
James Thurow will be going to our Italian neighborhood, "The Hill," for dining at Gian-Tony's Ristorante. He can take 6 - 8 people. This very good, very popular, moderately-priced corner spot on the Hill features an extensive pasta list and Sicilian and other Italian specialties. Sauce review.
