Interviewing - The On/Off Campus Screening Interview

Most employers will interview you more than once before making a hiring decision, with the exception of interviews for part-time positions in the metropolitan area, where you will often have only one interview before a hiring decision is made.

These screening interviews typically last between 20-30 minutes, and are usually held with one person. This is a very short amount of time to make an impression, so remember to make sure to lead with your strengths - whether they be prior work experience, knowledge of the field of practice, work ethic, academic performance or others.

As stated elsewhere, make sure that you know about the organization and the positions for which you are interviewing.

1. Be prepared!
2. Make sure that you talk about your strengths.
3. Show enthusiasm for the job and the organization.
4. Work to make a good first impression.
5. Strive to develop rapport with the interviewer.
6. If an opportunity arises, make sure that you have questions prepared to ask the employer.
